DADDYS HOME 2 Movie Reviews for Christians
Table of Content
Overall, it’s not the best comedy in the world, but definitely not the worst either. A boy talks about being bullied at school, and both his dad and step-dad give him some lessons in self-defense. A young boy later punches a girl, and a man punches another man. He’s now a doting, devoted stepdad to Megan and Dylan, the two kids she had with Dusty.
Picking up where the last movie left off, Brad Whitaker and Dusty Mayron have successfully transitioned into their roles as co-dads to a blended family. Despite a few minor hiccups, both men feel they have managed to create a loving and stable environment for their children. However, when their daughter confesses her unhappiness at the separate Christmas visits during a school pageant, Dusty and Brad decide it's time to merge their individual parties into one gigantic celebration.

In January 2017, Paramount Pictures courted Mel Gibson and John Lithgow to star in the sequel. Linda Cardellini, Owen Vaccaro and Scarlett Estevez also reprise their roles. During half-time, Brad is chosen to try to shoot a basketball to win a prize.
Their conversations include some crude sex references, talk of bodily fluids, and jokes about male genitalia. The doctor also has both men pull down their pants in order to “evaluate” their… no need to go any further than that. I thought the extra cast members were really a good addition, like John Cena and Mel Gibson. It almost reminded me of Grown Ups, but a little better. You really kinda had to have the first one to follow this one right away though. I don't want to spoil the funniest scenes or the moving ones so I'll be short.
Christian Movie Reviews - Family Friendly Entertainment
Dusty is a world-traveling black ops agent who exudes alpha masculine cool. In the innocent days of 2015, the movie offers gentle jabs at Brad’s effeminate habits but lands squarely on his side. It is Dusty who needs to grow up and let go of his toxic masculinity. He needs to accept male friendship instead of competition. Recent Hollywood films about families at the holidays will convince you that home is the last place you want to be at Christmas. A Bad Moms Christmas and Daddy’s Home 2 suggest that family is a stew of noxious gender tropes, preening perfectionism, and soul-crushing competition.

It’s all about being fun and doesn't ask the audience to think too hard. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are in perfect harmony throughout this zany, off-the-walls comedy, but even they can't stop Daddy's Home 2 from becoming another tired and unnecessary sequel. A religious liberty newsletter that is a must-read for people of faith.
Daddy's Home 2
And Brad and Sarah have added a little one of their own now, too. They’re as opposite as they can be, but Brad and Dusty have put their conflict-filled ways (as seen in 2015’s Daddy’s Home) behind them. Yup, these days, it’s all about being the best “co-dads” possible to their children. Ironically, Daddy’s Home 2 suffers from many of the same problems as Bad Moms Christmas, which could be seen as this movie's spiritual sister. For example, neither sequel was really all that necessary to begin with.
The jokes were bland and dry...you're not going to remember this thing in T-minus one day...a sequel that's not as good as the first movie. For his part, Dusty’s motivations are largely selfish—until near the end of the movie. That’s when he finally and grudgingly realizes that Brad has fatherhood skills and instincts he doesn’t, and that the other man’s attentive patience and gentleness are very good things for the children. …coarse language and vulgar, squirm-worthy humor… If you were thinking “Daddy’s Home” might make a nice movie to take the family to over the holidays, think again. Brad and Dusty's plan is complicated when Dusty's macho father, Kurt, a former astronaut and still a ladies' man, suddenly shows up for Christmas.

Meanwhile, Brad's own ultra-affectionate and emotional dad, Don, shows up to celebrate Christmas with Brad's family, but without Brad's mother. Clearly, Don is harboring some sort of secret of his own. All the actors in the movie seemed to really mesh well with each other and played off of one another. I spent the majority of the movie laughing and waiting to see what would happen next.

Sam is an actress with just enough success to keep going but not enough to rest easy. The show is most daring when it suggests that as hard as this juggling act might be, Sam gets pleasure out of both her work and her parenting. The show is stronger with every episode, because Sam is allowed to be confident and wise, exhausted and confused, content and restless all at once. —I am disappointed that I sat through this showing with my wife and 10 year old daughter. We had been told that the movie was funny and family-friendly; it is not.
The second collaboration between Ferrell and Wahlberg following the 2010 film The Other Guys, principal photography began on November 17, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The film was released on December 25, 2015, by Paramount Pictures and grossed $242 million worldwide, becoming Ferrell's highest-grossing live-action film. It has a 30% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which criticizes the lack of funny ideas and not fully exploring the premise. A sequel, Daddy's Home 2, was released on November 10, 2017. Resident Evil 4 set benchmarks back in 2005 on the Gamecube, but with the 2023 remake coming soon, we've pitted both of them head to head for a graphics comparison. From the opening village scene, to Dr. Salvador with his chainsaw, and a lot more!

But this “family” film is layered with quite a bit of suggestive and crude content, in addition to a smattering of profanities. The sexual content contained is surprising for a family themed comedy, but relieving at the same time since it’s rated PG-13. There are no sex scenes, but the script has quite a few sexual references, including slang terms for both male and female anatomy. Unfortunately, it gets worse when Brad’s boss shares a little bit about his past escapades, including a one night stand, a topless maid, and a love interest who said her boyfriend was her son in order to get another man. A rhino is briefly seen humping another, and a dog is also seen humping a toy doll. I love Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell chemistry in the first film.

But Brad’s pretty sure the guy knows how to kill people. He can do pull-ups with one arm … all day … without ever breaking a sweat. After years of Brad’s steady, consistent efforts to win their hearts, Dylan and Megan are finally starting to come around.
Now more than ever we’re bombarded by darkness in media, movies, and TV. Movieguide® has fought back for almost 40 years, working within Hollywood to propel uplifting and positive content. Here, it's important to note that the plot problem within this extended family, as evidenced by all these family conflicts, is explicitly resolved by overt acts of love. In effect, characters choose to forgive other characters and express their love for one another.
